Yeah, so it did. More like the good among us stayed home. I predicted this over a year ago and I'm not sure I've ever been more disappointed to be right.

I'd be more comforted by the fact that he's almost certainly not going to serve his full term if it weren't for the fact that elevating Pence could very well be worse.

Pence is horrible, and Trump's cabinet in general is shaping up to be terrifying. The only comfort I'm taking is that this defeat may finally make the Democratic Party look itself in the mirror and start giving its progressive base a seat at the table. Sanders would have won the damn election. The next four years are going to be hell. I'm back to having to protest my government, right where I was when I came of voting age. We've got to, frankly, obstruct and protest the shit out of Trump, vote out the Republican congress in two years (where we have the disadvantage because we win with high voter turnout, and voter turnout is always lower in midterm elections) and offer a viable alternative in four. It's a sad moment.

His cabinet in general is shaping up to be an outright joke; I haven't seen a single name confirmed or even suggested for anything they would actually be qualified for, regardless of personal ideology. I mean seriously, Ben Carson for Housing and Urban Development? No prizes for guessing what Republican Amerika thinks qualifies him for that one.
I try to take solace in the thought that hopefully the fact that they no longer have a branch of government being run by a Democrat they can put blame on means that the public will finally have no choice but to see them for what they are, but two years of a Republican congress sitting around with their thumbs up their asses didn't accomplish that.
Warren/Booker 2020?
